I’m conflicted.
I have been car-less for 7+ years, walking, and cycling most of the time. Each time one of my kids graduated from university, I gave them my car. It was always an older model, but a good vehicle for someone starting out. When my youngest graduated 7 years ago, I decided not to replace it. I didn’t need to. I biked to work, and I could easily walk to all the stores.
I’m conflicted because I don’t agree with our society’s dependence on the internal combustion engine (ICE), and how damaging they are to our environment, and quality of life in urban areas. I didn’t expect to purchase another car. On the other hand, I enjoy road trips, and cycling in other areas. After considerable thought, and research, I decided to purchase an electrical vehicle (EV). In the end, one product stood head and heels above all the rest.
The Tesla Model 3.
Unfortunately, I took delivery just as the COVID-19 virus took hold in my part of the world. As a consequence, I have not been able to share the experience with others. I purchased the vehicle long before the pandemic was a concern. Otherwise, I may have waited.
The good thing is I have time, and quiet streets, to learn the myriad of features the car boasts. It will also give me time to research and purchase an appropriate bike rack. A must 😂
I like how I travel silently throughout the city without creating additional pollution. And, I like to think I’m setting a good example for my kids, who inevitably will be driving EV’s.
If you have an EV, I’d be interested in learning about your experience, both good and bad.
