It was supposed to be a relaxing ride. A recovery ride. 80 km on quiet scenic roads.
There was wind from the SW. I was headed SW. That meant a headwind for 40 km. A strong one. So, getting there was a slog. Hard work. A hard ride.
Coming back, I planned to take it easy. Recover. But with a tailwind it was not only easy but fast too. Instead of relaxing, I pushed harder. I liked the speed.
So instead of a relaxing, recovery ride, I had the hardest workout in a week. Not since the Kawartha Classic have I ridden as far, and as hard.
