The Screen Porch at Camp PesalWORKS is the focal point, where we visit, relax, and often eat. It keeps the bugs out, and lets the breeze flow through.
The porch was built 30+ years ago with money gifted from my great uncle to my mother.
This summer when my 1-year grandson was visiting, he pushed right through a section of the Screen. I quickly stapled it back in place, but later inspected all of the other sections. They were in bad shape – torn, worn, dirty, and stretched out of shape, not surprising after 30 years.
So, this past week, I undertook to replace the Screen. It was a bigger job than I anticipated. First, I stripped all of the nailing strips and Screen off. Next, I re-stained all of the posts, and hung a new door. They were badly weathered too. Then, new screen and nailing strips were installed. This took a week.
I did this work after morning training sessions. Up and down a ladder all afternoon is hard work, particularly in the sun, and humidity we have experienced lately.
Now it’s done!
