I live in a hilly, no mountainous, part of the world. I climb a lot. Some short climbs. Some long. Ranging from 2-15 km in length. Most of these “How To” tips I already do but it’s good to be reminded.

Unfortunately, I’m from a ridiculously flat chunk of earth, comparatively. Our longest climbs might be 1 km… We have to head south to climb anything worthy and it was really tough to find a rhythm… Once I did, I fell in love with climbing. Till then, it was all grind all of the time. Nice post – I was glad to see I lucked out stumbling into a few of those tips.
Do lots of hills most times I’m out. I love it when I’m over a hill and heading down, with no real recollection of reaching the top. Definitely ‘in the zone’!
I don’t mind hills now. Once I switched to a compact crank set and learned to spin faster in lower gears, I realized I could climb faster and longer with less effort.
