I remember helping some of the Bosnian refugees who came to Scotland during the war there. Some had been in the concentration camps, but all had fled, most just with photos. It was sad and uplifting to hear their stories, but being able to help them with language, customs and just listening, as well as learning so much myself. It was good to see most of the children thriving too, despite the trauma. But it’s all happening again. Good luck with the book.
