I am out for an easy ride. Or, so I thought. A flat route. The light, fast bike.
I battled a headwind for 20 of the last 35 km. It is worse than a long climb in some ways. All you can do is drop down on the bars. And, gear down. It is relentless. More mental than physical. At least with a climb you know there is an end to it and, a reward on the other side. An easy, fast descent. The only way out of a headwind is to change direction and that is not always possible.
Drop down on the bars. Gear down. Pedal in efficient, circular strokes. And, stop looking at the computer. Speed is not important. Keep a steady pace.
