I like this YouTube video.
I do more and am more particular with my bikes but the video is a good start on how to clean a bike following a ride. I have never tried a cleaning solution, other than a degreaser for the chain, or a brush but they both make sense. Instead, I use a spray bottle filled with water and a mild soap and, rags, lots of rags. A soft brush would get into tight corners more easily. I am going to try one.
I also like that the video features a women (Emma Rome). The women in my life would never clean their bikes. They wait for their men to do the dirty work.
A clean bike rides better and is easier (more enjoyable) to maintain. Make it a weekly habit, you won’t regret it.

I agree, a clean bike rides like it got a tuneup. I don’t clean after EVERY ride, but I do clean regularly 🙂 And I’m a woman.
That’s terrific! Do you do minor repairs as well – patch flats, adjust brakes and derailleurs …
I wish everyone would clean their bikes I really hate seeing a good looking bike dirty especially when they keep it like it.
