Canadian Road Cycling Manufacturers
There are many Canadian road cycling companies manufacturing bikes, clothing, accessories and tools. The list that follows is by no means complete. I live on the west coast and am most familiar with the companies here. I have included companies that may be best known for mountain biking but they also manufacture road bikes.
I am looking for your assistance to build a more comprehensive, nation-wide list so that we can celebrate the innovation and dedication of these Canadian entrepreneurs.
Let me know of other companies. The criteria is simple. The company must be Canadian owned, operate with headquarters in Canada, have a road cycling focus and is a company you would recommend.
Simply add a comment to this post for all to see and I will update the list accordingly.
Behind the Brodie name, is Paul Brodie. Originally an artist and motorcycle fanatic, he began painting and brass-welding frames for mountain bikes in 1985. It wasn’t long before he invented and trademarked the Vancouver sloping top tube, launching a brand of bikes bearing the Brodie name. On September 29th, 2005, Paul was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame at Interbike in Las Vegas, creating an international fan base for the Vancouver brand. Today, Brodie bikes are a product of our passion and a proud part of our local community.
Cervélo Cycles was created in 1995 when two engineers, Phil White and Gérard Vroomen, decided to market their work developing faster time trial bikes. Having been involved in bicycle and human-powered vehicle design since 1986, they started a bike design from scratch when a top-ranked Italian pro cyclist approached Gérard to design the fastest possible time trial bike for him. The team evaluated the bikes on the market, and set a design goal for the bike that was difficult and uncompromising. They wanted something that was unbeatable in aerodynamics yet sacrificed nothing in weight or stiffness. The result was a pretty radical bike that pushed the rules in almost every area. It tested extremely well for aerodynamics, as well as handling, stiffness and comfort.
The name Cima Coppi comes from professional road bike racing denoting the highest point in the Giro. The ‘Cima’ (mountain peak) is in honor of Fausto Coppi, maybe the greatest of Italian racers and a man whose determination lead to greatness.

Filzer. It’s more than a brand.
Filzer is a lifestyle. Filzer is a solution. Filzer is value.
That’s a pretty big line to talk, but Filzer has been delivering the goods on its ever-growing range of products since 2002. What began as a philosophy (make useful, high-quality products at an affordable price), has evolved into an entire product line of inventive solutions for daily living.
Cycling computers, tools, pumps, lights, stainless steel water bottles, and more… wherever you go in the Filzer product line, you can count on two things: quality and value.
At Kona, we’re all about the freedom and empowerment of the bicycle. We have been since 1988. We still have the same founding owners. We’re still populated by a staff of keen, active, impassioned cyclists. We’re not big, nor are we that small. Just a dedicated group of cyclists making bicycles for people who love bikes-no matter if that love is new or long established.

We turned 30 last year and it feels great. No middle-age anxiety, just excitement about reaching our glory years. We’re older, we’re wiser, and we’ve never made better bikes than right now. Not bad for a little bike company born in the basement of a Vancouver BC bike shop, eh?
For years, hard-core endurance athletes have known SUGOI as manufacturer of the most incredible, and incredibly hard-working, apparel in endurance sports. In fact, “incredible” is exactly what SUGOI means in Japanese and for over 20 years, we’ve been working diligently to make sure we live up to our name.
SUGOI’s journey began when bicycle racer David Hollands, and Carol Prantner, a fashion student, founded the company in 1987. The start up originated as a basement operation in the outdoor playground of Vancouver, British Columbia. The initial product merely consisted of bike shorts, made to address the short supply of genuine technical cycling apparel, which all came from Japan or Europe at the time. These humble shorts contained the genesis of the original SUGOI ethic of innovation and excellence and soon enough, other competitors wanted the shorts too. SUGOI quickly earned an almost cult-following among athletes seeking the best performing, best-looking apparel available.
