fi’zi:k is a racing brand. It represents beauty, speed, passion, freedom for those who race against each other, race against the clock and for enthusiast cyclists around the world who identify with the feeling of the fire of competition.
I like elegant solutions. Solutions without complication. I have written previously about the Suunto training products. They solve a complicated problem in a simple, easy-to-use family of athletic training aids.
fi’zi:k saddle pa:k
fi’zi:k have done the same. Their saddle pa:k clips easily onto their saddles eliminating the need for any straps on the underside of the saddle or the seat post. Clean. Elelgant. And, functional. It is small for some but more than adequate for a set of nylon tire levers, patch kit and a CO2 inflator – all you need for training rides.
fi’zi:k Spine Concept
fi’zi:k saddles are unique. They are engineered to the riders degree of flexibility recognizing everyone is different:
Spine Concept realises that cyclists have varying degrees of flexibility. Human flexibility affects riding behaviour when
cycling in a high performance position. Correct behavioural
movement permits the cyclists perform at maximum output
and at maximum comfort for extended periods of time.
Not only does the fi’zi:k pa:k fit the the saddle, the saddle fits the rider based on fitness and performance levels. And, you select the appropriate saddle by a simple test of your spine flexibility. Clever. Simple. And, elegant. fi’zi:k have a dynamic, visual explanation of their Spine Concept. Watch it here … and select the best saddle for you.
I ride the fi’zi:k Arione pictured to the left. This is designed for those with a flexible lower spine with the sit bones managing most of the weight. I didn’t know this when I bought the saddle but I find it very comfortable. For a complete review of the fi’zi:k saddles see Pez Cycling News article dated August 16, 2011. It details the various saddle fits and includes numerous explanatory pictures.
